Another week and another outside broadcast for CamGlen Radio recorded as we TryBowls.

While Bryan Burnett and Dougie Vipond have nothing to feàr, just yet, we are slowly finding our feet and slowly growing more confident behind the mike, each and every week. We are having so much fun and look forward to each new show.

It does help that we are currently able to interview the most wonderful of people, each and every week.

If you tuned in on Tuesday, you would haven listened to Julie Hanson and Scott McDonald waxing lyrically about the wonders of yoga and as soon as my knee stops protesting, I’ll be ensuring that I attend at least one class each week.

So, it should come as no surprise that next week’s guest has had a similar effect on me.

Thomas Hamilton is the Director of Marketing, Branding and Communications for Bowls Scotland (he needs to shorten that title) and today, Paula and I met him at Kelvingrove Lawn Bowls Centre in Glasgow, almost two years from when we first met him in 2014, when we were all working on the Commonwealth Games.

Back then, I penned this Team 14 Blog on bowling and I remarked on how bowls was casting off its stale image and embracing new ways to encourage players of every age and ability to trybowls.

Since then, Bowls Scotland has arguably led the way in the promotion of the sport and it is setting the benchmark for other nations to follow. It does help that we are home to some of the finest players in the world, at every age level, but credit must be given to Tom and the team at Bowls Scotland.

As an association, it is in its infancy (formed in 2010), and one only has to look at its social media presence to see that it is a sport that is reaching out to children and adults alike. While some are questioning the legacy of the Games, Bowls Scotland are creating a new generation of players.

How many sports can field an eight year old playing against an eighty year old and how many are as accessible to the disabled?
